Here I post a doctor’s suggestion to his patient. I feel he is correct.
“I was just thinking why you may not have
taken advantage of your consultation.

You’re probably like many others who
suffer from back pain, headache, neck pain,
soreness, or any type of physical ache or pain…
the pain comes and goes and now you’re feeling
pretty good…am I right?

Sometimes even our patients often feel
better after the first few treatments,
and although this may seem good, the opposite
can sometimes be true as well.

Patients often mistake this feeling for a total
cure of their condition. They simply do not
realize that a relief of the symptoms DOES
NOT indicate a correction of the condition.

The smart patients never discontinue treatment
before their actual complaint has been corrected,
and if they do so, further complications are
bound to develop.

Even if you feel better, get checked out.

Prevent future problems.

We’ll extend our offer for a consultation,
but you have to call our office .
We’re standing by to hear from you and hopefully
help you prevent future problems.”

Mr. A. A. 60 years old. He has diabetes and chronic stomach and intestine disorders.  He was my patient one year ago, he also loves Chinese Medicine and learnt a lot by teaching himself.   He uses accupressure and moxibustion in his home routinely.

Three weeks ago, when he ate his dinner, drunk a bit wine, he started hiccup. Since then, his hiccup didn’t stop, even he used accupressure, electronic acupuncture-like instrument stimulated his Nei Guan points by himself.  His symptoms were: hiccup once 5-10/seconds, with heartburn, urge to burp, uncomfortable, fullness in abdomen, insomnia, occasionally gas; middle and upper back pain, pain below right ribcage; when using electronic stimulator to stimulate Nei Guan points, the hiccup became low, once every 20 seconds.

Using holding breath, and find it does not work. Slowly drinking water may help to diminish the hiccup for about half hour.

Patient’s tongue coating slight yellow, and pulse slight slippery and wiry.

Recently a patient visited our acupuncture and Chinese medicine center in Vienna, Virginia for her partial facial palsy post Guillain Barre Syndrome (GBS). Acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine helped her very much, now her face looks normal after two months of treatments.

She had Guillain Barre Syndrome in late of January this year (2010), at that time she had both side facial palsy and fingers and toes numbness, lost of walking balance, short of breath, etc., hospitalized for one week, using IVIG, etc. to treat. After extensive neurological treatment, in late of March, she started to see Dr. Fan for help with her facial palsy’s recovery. At initial time, her left eye could not close tightly, and eye lid movement was poor; right face muscle and right side of upper mouth lip movement was very poor, and she could not whistle.

Now everything is about “99%” improved and looks normal.

We received many calls about the inquiry of Chinese medicine / acupuncture for Peripheral Neuropathy treatments in recent months due to our patients and MDs’ referrals.

We have treated such condition since 1989 when Dr.Fan started a Chinese medicine neurology in Nanjing, China.

The reasons of Peripheral Neuropathy are complicated, many patients have that because they have diabetes, the Peripheral Neuropathy is a complication of Diabetes.  Some of other patients get that after chemotherapies, or using some chemical medications, or just after vaccine injection, such as flu Shot.  And, many of other patients may have “no reason”.

The acupuncture for Peripheral Neuropathy is very effective, basically, needs 8-24 sessions. the burning pain, tingling, nubness may be attenuated immidiated after initial acupuncture.

Using Chinese herbal “tea”-decoction, and a special capsule, the effectiveness could be more stable.

We have more than 60 patients treated by the integrative methods of acupuncture with Chinese herbology, all of patients got effectiveness, 70% of patients got clinical cure–under the control, when they under the treatments.

Neuropathy and severe pain

 07/09/2007

I started going to Dr. Yin Fan for acupuncture to treat neuropathy caused by severe nerve damage to my spinal cord. Modern medicine alone was not treating the associated neurogenic pain. After several sessions, I had a very noticeable decrease in pain. I also gained a noticeable amount of positive sensation. Feeling that I had lost to the injury had begun to return. During this time my energy level also increased. Overall it made a significant difference in my life / recovery.

Neuropathy, Burning Pain

I came to Dr. Fan for neuropathy in my neck, shoulder, and arm. I have a bone spur in my neck that was causing a lot of severe burning pain and sensation discomfort. After 12 sessions (acupuncture), the burning sensation is barely there, the first few times the pain level was up and down, but the last month the discomfort is almost all gone and the remains very low. I feel much, much better and encouraged. Dr.Fan is very gentle and kind and I thank him very much for help me.

Arthur Fan note:

For neuropathy, although the original causes may be complicated, acupuncture and Chinese medicine is a very effective therapy.

We have one herbal formula which was approved by Chinese FDA (jiangsu province) as hospital use, very good for Neuropathy and pain, called LIU JUN SAN.
