One of my patients has low back pain. She saw me for acupuncture and Chinese herbology treatment recently. Her case may give us some useful revelations.
She has this low back pain with right lower leg(out side) pain over half year, she saw acupuncturists in local, but she was afraid of needles, after a few sessions, she quitted. The she went to physical therapists, after a few treatments, she quitted. She backed to China, saw a very famous doctor, called Feng Tianyou in Beijing, who did spinal adjustments, she felt the leg pain disappeared, then quitted, went to Nanjing, saw some good doctors there, did acupuncture, XiaoZhenDao (little needle-knife), tuina, etc., she felt they did on her with too much pain, she quitted; then she saw a famous Chinese herbalist, use herbal tea therapy, good, but she left. The saw me, I did acupuncture and herbal tea, she felt the herbal tea’s smell poor, so she quitted the herbal tea; after 4 session’s acupuncture, she felt much better but did not reach her aim-stop all back pain, she quitted. I called her, she said she is planing to see a chiropractor now.
I suggested her she should keep to see a provider and allow this provider have enough time to investigate and treat her disorder/illness. Be patient to see the better results, she agreed with me.
Her problem is seeing every doctor or healthcare provider only two weeks per time. If her condition could not be cured, she will change to another doctor. Changing doctor too often will causing wasting time in understanding her condition in each provider’s office, because every doctor takes time to evaluate her condition again.
Patience is important to get the tatal effectiveness.
